Surrey Police are appealing for the public’s help following a fatal collision on the A217 (Brighton Road) between Lower Kingswood and Tadworth.
Officers were called at around 10.20am this morning (26 July) following reports of collision involving a pedestrian and a small green lorry with ‘Greene King’ branding. Emergency services were in attendance and despite best efforts of paramedics, the pedestrian, a man in his 70’s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The driver of the lorry was fully cooperative with officers and both the driver and Greene King are working with us as our inquiries continue.
The road was closed for a number of hours in both directions between the Tadworth roundabout and the roundabout which links with Chipstead Lane. The southbound carriageway has since reopened but the northbound carriageway remains closed at this time.
