Blenheim High School opens new Wooden Spoon Enhanced Learning Centre with special guest Rob Henderson

This evening, Blenheim High School has celebrated the completion of its inspirational new facility for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities which has been possible thanks to generous funding from Wooden Spoon.

The project has been a year in the making with funds granted by Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby a rugby charity whose mission is to positively transform the lives of vulnerable children and young people through the power of rugby.

The refurbishment of the room has included the joining of two rooms to create a larger, brighter and more suitable space, the fitting of state of the art glass pods which will be used for individual interventions and therapies and the addition of new furniture, specially chosen for students with SEND.

The opening was marked with a special launch event attended by Rob Henderson, former Ireland and British & Irish Lions rugby international and incoming honorary president of Wooden Spoon Surrey as well as special guests from Wooden Spoon who were responsible for selecting the project for funding. Students and parents were delighted to be attendance along with the dedicated SEND team at Blenheim who are thrilled to be housed in their newly refurbished facility.

Tony Bodell, Headteacher said: “This is a very special day for our students and hard-working SEND team and we are all incredibly grateful to Wooden Spoon for supporting our vision. Today is a moment to remember because together we have created a facility that will serve the school’s students with SEND for years to come.”

  1. Such a shame the head teacher didn’t let any of the SEND parents know this was happening, or any of the SEND team are in the picture – typical Blenheim.
