Every Chinthurst pupil who took a LAMDA drama exam at the end of last term achieved a distinction grade. The fantastic results include distinctions for two Year 6 pupils who took the extremely rigorous LAMDA Acting exam at grade 4 level.
Drama is a huge part of life at Chinthurst with weekly curriculum lessons and a range of exciting productions throughout the year. The school also has their own LAMDA Drama programme which gives children the opportunity to take extra weekly classes and regular exams. It provides plenty of opportunity for them to use their imaginations, be creative and to explore their interests in a dynamic and engaging way. Preparing for the exams helps them think outside the box, come up with innovative ideas, and explore various perspectives. Most importantly, the LAMDA programme is extremely enjoyable and a very popular part of school life.
Head of Drama, Mrs Stricker-Timmermans said, ‘Drama has an important role to play in the individual growth of every child. It offers them a platform to acquire and enhance skills and qualities such as teamwork, creativity, leadership, and risk-taking—attributes that are indispensable in various aspects of life. The process of preparing for and participating in LAMDA exams not only boosts children’s self-esteem but also instils a sense of accomplishment and gives them the confidence to showcase their talents on a broader stage. The children’s impressive LAMDA grades are a testament to their unwavering dedication and hard work. Exam preparation is brilliant fun and we certainly have plenty of laughs along the way.”
Headteacher, Cathy Trundle said, ‘ This is an outstanding set of results and I am so pleased that the children’s enthusiasm and hard work has paid off. I am so proud of them all and particularly our Year 6 pupils who achieved distinctions in such a high grade of exam.’
LAMDA believe that drama has the power to transform lives and their world-renowned qualifications are designed to inspire the next generation of confident communicators. They offer a range of exams at many different levels and are a wonderful way to inspire children.
