Love Me Love My Mind celebrates 20 years of supporting the local community of Epsom and Ewell, and Publication of Voices of the Voiceless: An evaluation of local church care for those in mental distressby Susan H. Bull, edited and with a foreword by Nicola L. Bull 

In 2026, Epsom-based charity, Love Me Love My Mind, proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of supporting individuals, families and communities with their mental health and wellbeing.

Founded by Rev. Susan Bull and Rev. Michael Preston in 2006 at St Barnabas Church, Epsom, Love Me Love My Mind began with a simple but powerful vision: to create a compassionate, non-judgemental community where people could find support, connection and hope during difficult times. Over the past twenty years, the charity has grown from a small local initiative into a respected community organisation providing vital, non-clinical mental health support to people of all ages.

At the heart of the charity’s work is the belief that connection, kindness and community can transform lives. Through a wide range of services and activities, Love Me Love My Mind has helped thousands of local residents facing challenges such as loneliness, isolation, anxiety, depression, family pressures and the stresses of modern life.

Key initiatives have included our weekly Monday drop-in, peer-support groups, family wellbeing programmes, volunteering opportunities, our annual Epsom Mental Health Week events and practical help for people who may otherwise feel isolated or overlooked. These services have created safe spaces where people can talk openly, build friendships and develop resilience.

Over the years, the charity has worked closely with local partners, volunteers and supporters to strengthen mental health provision across the community. Its work has become increasingly important as awareness of mental health challenges has grown and demand for accessible, preventative support has increased.

The charity is also delighted to announce the publication of Voices of the Voiceless: An evaluation of local church care for those in mental distressby Rev.Susan H. Bull, edited and with a foreword by Nicola L. Bull. Sue pursued academic study alongside her charity work, studying Theology in Switzerland early on and later gaining a Theology degree from Dublin. At the time of Sue’s death, she was working on a doctoral thesis under the auspices of St Mary’s University, researching why the church had such a poor record in mental health work and looking at the Love Me Love My Mind project in Epsom. She was subsequently awarded a posthumous MPhil for the work she had done. Later this year, as part of Epsom Mental Health Week 2026, we will hold a series of events highlighting Sue’s work and share the results of this study.

Speaking about the milestone, the charity’s Chief Officer, Allen Price reflected on the journey:  ‘Reaching 20 years is a wonderful moment for Love Me Love My Mind. What started as a small act of community care has grown into something truly special. This anniversary is not only about looking back at what has been achieved, but also about celebrating the incredible volunteers, supporters and community members who have made it possible. Most importantly, it is about the people whose lives have been touched by kindness, support and connection.’

Throughout 2026, Love Me Love My Mind will be marking the anniversary with a series of community events, celebrations and fundraising activities to honour the past and look ahead to the future. The charity also hopes to use the milestone to raise awareness of the importance of early support, prevention and community-based mental health care during Epsom Mental Health Week 3rd – 10th October.

Looking ahead, the organisation is focused on expanding its work to support families, young people and individuals facing growing mental health pressures. With plans for new wellbeing programmes and partnerships, Love Me Love My Mind aims to continue building stronger, healthier and more connected communities for the next twenty years and beyond.
