Dorking Concertgoers: Grimethorpe Colliery Band

A selection of brass band classics including some festive favourites.

The Grimethorpe Colliery Band, founded over a century ago in a Yorkshire mining village, soon achieved a high reputation and is now regarded as one of the finest of Britain’s brass bands. It has won numerous band championships, is known around the world, and has played in such diverse settings as the London 2012 Olympic Games,
the football World Cup and the BBC Proms. It has performed in many major concert halls, appeared on radio and television and made numerous recordings. The players’ repertoire is wide, they
enjoy working with living composers, and they also invest in the future by encouraging young musicians, not least through the Grimethorpe Youth Band.
